Effect of Long-term Application of Chloride Fertilizer on Soil Nutrient Content

April 08, 2022

Chlorine is the most essential plant nutrient discovered at the latest, but the impact on crop growth, yield, quality, soil and the environment has received great attention. Therefore, proper application of chlorine fertilizer during planting can enhance the quality of crops. With the rapid development and growth of the Alkali Industry, ammonium chloride and potassium chloride and other chlorinated fertilizers are increasing day by day. They are widely used in various crops. The application of chlorine fertilizer has a certain improvement on the quality of crops, then for soil nutrients. The content also has a certain improvement effect. The following are eight treatments of equivalent NPK fertilizers:
(1) Control (without fertilization),
(2) single application of urea,
(3) urea + potassium chloride,
(4) Urea+Pass calcium phosphate,
(5) Urea + General Calcium Phosphate + Potassium Chloride,
(6) Urea + monoammonium phosphate + potassium chloride,
(7) Ammonium chloride + ammonium chloride + potassium chloride,
(8) Nitrophosphate + potassium chloride.
They were then applied to the same eight soil areas, and the soil nutrients in these eight areas were regularly tested using a soil-differentiation tester to observe the effects on soil nutrients. (Note: This experiment needs to be conducted for a long time)

In 2009, the content of soil organic matter, total nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium, and available N, P and K were all increased to varying degrees compared with 1984. Soil organic matter increased by 11.11% to 17.28%, total nitrogen increased by 41.11% to 80%, and total phosphorus increased by 2.1% to 13.0%. Total potassium increased by 2.25 to 11.24%, alkaline nitrogen increased by 3.39 to 4.54%, available phosphorus increased by 100% to 203%, and available potassium increased by 6.56% to 18.39%. The increase in available N, P and K contents in the soil was higher than the increase in total NPK and organic matter content, and the increase in nutrient content in high-chlorine treatment was more.
